Amber Casavant named principal for St. Joseph Regional School and Our Lady of Mercy Academy

Casavant brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including 10 years in leadership roles.

The Diocese of Manchester has chosen Amber Casavant of Fitzwilliam to serve as principal of Keene’s two Catholic schools on Main Street, with the appointment taking effect July 1.

Casavant will oversee St. Joseph Regional School, which educates students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, and Our Lady of Mercy Academy, which serves grades nine through 12. She is a parishioner at the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Keene and replaces interim Principal Annie Pearson, who stepped in after Principal Victoria Farrington.

Casavant brings more than 20 years of experience in education, including 10 years in leadership roles. Her most recent position was director of multi-tiered systems of support and a member of the executive leadership team for Gardner Public Schools in Massachusetts.

The Diocese of Manchester said Superintendent of Catholic schools David Thibault praised her professional background, family perspective and commitment to Catholic education. He said she stood out during the search for her dedication to academic excellence, attention to the development of the whole child, and interest in building strong connections among families, teachers, parish leaders and the wider community.

Casavant earned a master’s of education in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in autism studies from UMass Lowell and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. The release also said she completed an educational leadership fellowship through Boston College Lynch Leadership Academy, received her principal license and is a board certified behavior analyst.
