A significant achievement for healthcare employees at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital was marked by the ratification of their inaugural union contract, which promises enhanced wages and improved benefits. This decision came after an extensive bargaining process that lasted over a year and involved more than 280 support staff and technical personnel, as reported by AFT Vermont.

The newly ratified two-year agreement aims to provide a boost in salaries and enhanced security measures for hospital workers. AFT Vermont, the union involved, is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers and advocates for over 12,000 workers in the healthcare and education sectors throughout the state.

In a related matter, the nursing staff at the same hospital had previously negotiated a different contract just last month, following their authorization for a potential strike if necessary.
