Keene Family YMCA names new CEO

The YMCA has appointed Mick Blume as CEO taking effect Monday.

The Keene Family YMCA has appointed Mick Blume as its new president and CEO, with the change taking effect Monday, according to an announcement released that afternoon.

Blume had been serving as interim CEO for the last four months after Christy Filby left the organization. The board said in a written statement that his work in the temporary role showed strong leadership and gave directors confidence in his ability to guide the nonprofit through its next phase.

Blume joined the YMCA in 2022 as development and community impact director. Before coming to Keene, he worked for the Red Sox Foundation.

He also holds volunteer leadership roles in the region, including service on the board of the Keene Housing Kids Collaborative and committee work with the Monadnock Youth Coalition, Monadnock Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Coalition, and Keene Elm City Rotary.

In a written statement, Blume said he is grateful for the chance to lead the organization and looks forward to building on its role in the community. He said the YMCA has a strong staff, broad local support and significant opportunities to expand its work across the Monadnock Region.

The Keene Family YMCA is a nonprofit organization centered on youth development, health and social responsibility.
