Keene police said Thursday that Jade Galford, 22, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault after an infant known to her was allegedly hurt.
Galford was booked Thursday and remained held without bail at the Cheshire County jail ahead of an arraignment set for Friday, according to a release from the Keene Police Department.
The investigation began after the N.H. Division for Children, Youth and Families alerted police that a baby younger than 1 year old had been taken to a hospital with injuries that raised concern. Investigators said the child had several fractures in different stages of healing.
Keene police are continuing the case with help from the Child Advocacy and Protection Program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Anyone with information is asked to contact Keene police Detective Jennifer Truman or Detective Donald Lundin at 603-357-9813 or jtruman@keenenh.gov.
