A brush fire that ignited late Wednesday night close to railroad tracks in Claremont has raised suspicions among local officials. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near Byrd Avenue, prompting a response from the Claremont Fire Department.

To tackle the substantial blaze, which spread across 2 to 3 acres, firefighters from seven additional departments were summoned to assist. The teams faced challenges as they had to maneuver around the railroad tracks, working diligently through the night to bring the fire under control and to monitor for any lingering hot spots.

Investigations into the fire's origin are ongoing, as officials aim to determine what may have caused the suspicious incident.
