Fire Contained Quickly at Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole

The business said the outcome could have been far worse if the fire had gone unnoticed for a few more minutes or had started overnight.

A fire outside Alyson’s Orchard’s apple packing building was brought under control Friday afternoon after workers spotted it and acted fast, helping avoid what could have been a major loss.

Emergency dispatch records show Walpole firefighters were sent to Alyson’s Lane at about 1:10 p.m. after reports of flames on the outside of a structure. By the time crews arrived, the fire had already been knocked down, and firefighters then carried out overhaul work at the scene.

The orchard said on Facebook that the presence of employees on site made a critical difference. Staff members reportedly used buckets of water to extinguish the flames before they had a chance to spread.

The business said the outcome could have been far worse if the fire had gone unnoticed for a few more minutes or had started overnight. Even with the scare, Alyson’s Orchard said its Halloween event would still take place Friday night as planned.

The orchard also expressed appreciation for the Walpole Fire Department and for community members who checked in after the incident. Officials had not yet released the cause of the fire or a detailed assessment of the damage.
