Authorities have indicated that there are no signs of foul play regarding the circumstances of the 37 year old's death.
The Vermont Department of Corrections has reported the death of a 37-year-old inmate from St. Johnsbury at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The individual, identified as Jonathan Stone, had been under state supervision since 2019.
Stone was initially admitted to North Country Hospital located in Newport on March 16 before being moved to Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Medical personnel confirmed his passing on March 29.
Authorities have indicated that there are no signs of foul play regarding the circumstances of his death. In line with state regulations and departmental procedures, both the Defender General’s Prisoners’ Rights Office and the Vermont State Police have been informed. The Corrections Investigative Unit will conduct a standard review of the situation as part of their protocol.
