Vermont man charged after police say bag contained explosive devices

He is being held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 2.

Authorities in Brattleboro say a Berlin, Vermont man is facing accusations tied to destructive devices after a theft investigation led to the discovery of suspected explosives.

 

Police identified the man as Zachary James, 36, who was taken into custody Tuesday. According to investigators, the case began when officers recovered a bag from James during a theft last week and later searched it.

 

Inside, police said they found what appeared to be four small explosive devices. James was then charged with possession of destructive devices.

 

He is being held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 2.
